    Description

    This is a 1902 poster of a Spanish American War Cavalry Soldier Horace Shull. He belonged to Troops of the 3rd US Cavalry. Poster copyright by H.H. Stratton of Chattanooga, Tenn. Poster measures 24 by 18 inches. It does have some taped tears and edge wear. There are 3 pictures in center of who may be Horace Shull. Enlisted October 11, 1899 for 3 years and discharged Oct. 10, 1902. The written script is by S.M. Smith Brigidier Gen'l USA. Under incidents connected with the service are, conscious gallantry, found important papers and photographs belonging to Gen. Timis, Captured a small force belonging to Major Reyes, Charge of rebel prisoners on Guam, Lists a number of engagements and skirmishes that he took part. All the pictures are from the Spanish American war in the Phillippines. Some of the pictures are quite graphic. Some of the titles to the pictures are Burying the Dead, Spanish soldiers shooting spies, Burning of the Tondo district in Manilla-American soldiers shooting Phillippino Incendiares, Shooting prisoners at Cabanas Fortress, Firing a salute at the burial of a dead comrade. 4 military leaders are pictures in portraits including President McKinley., Root, Miles, Funston. 4 Killed American Leaders are also pictured, Col Egbert, Gen. Lawton, Lieut  Febiger, Lt Kootz.  Interesting original military poster.
