SUPERIOR QUALITY carving.......large 2 1/2" carved helmet shell antique Victorian portrait cameo mourning brooch in wonderful black mount(not sure of material). Delicately realistic carving in very high relief...still crisp!  BEAUTIFUL profile! Fine polished finish and good color contrast...white against dark taupe background. Study pics to appreciate the real beauty of this piece at different angels. Old hinged pin shaft with extended pin and old C-clasp.  There is a "scratch/crack? on the back (not the shell)...only mentioned for accuracy.  Measures 2 1/2'  x  2 1/8"  x  aprox. 1/2" thick.Excellent condition.
